In this role you will gain exposure in a number of disciplines in HR, supporting operational, cyclical and special projects as a Human Resources Talent Consultant, Co-op.
The Role
Gain diversified experience as a member of our U.S. HR team. This is a unique opportunity to rotate and work with a number of different HR teams to gain exposure to different disciplines such as Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) and Strategic HR Business Partnership.
Sharpen your critical thinking skills, knowledge of human resources practices all the while playing a role for making care and benefits easier for our Clients.
This position provides exposure to those who are seriously considering a career in HR and looking to gain critical experiences. You will have a chance to help people leaders and employees with their day-to-day operational and cyclical talent needs and have the opportunity to work with a number of colleagues and inspirational HR leaders who want to help you shine and grow.
How you will contribute
This role will rotate in different areas of HR for a few weeks at a time. Examples of areas you may get exposure could include:
Supporting Talent Acquisition to coordinate and schedule interviews, actively promoting open positions internally and externally or enhance recruitment tools and processes.
Adding value in our U.S. recognition program.
Supporting leaders and employees with our performance management practices.
Taking a hands-on role with our future of work journey.
Assisting our learning and development programs.
Advancing our DE&I efforts to help us achieve our commitments.
Partnering with our HR Business Partners to support leaders with their talent agenda.
Identifying the right reports to run and providing data insights.
Working with our Global Center of Expertise partners to advance HR initiatives.
Your Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will help you effectively collaborate with team members, cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Effectively navigate in a fast-paced matrix organization
An ability to prioritize work requests and meet multiple deadlines
Proficiency in MS Office to create compelling presentations to tell a talent story
Advanced Excel skills (ability to use V/Xlookup, IF statements, pivot tables, complex formulas) to compile, review, prepare and present data
Excellent research skills and resourcefulness, including an orientation to be informed through data
Ability to work independent
Ability to take initiative and eager to take on responsibility
Strong work ethic and level of professionalism
What you bring with you
To be eligible for a co-op at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:
Will be enrolled in higher education during the co-op timeframe (July – December 2024), preferably in program that supports or requires co-ops
Ability to work most full-time regular hours (8:30am – 5pm) for the duration of the co-op (July – December 2024)
Pursing a degree in a related field (Human Resources, Business, etc.)
Eligible to legally work in the United States
Compensation for this role will be around $23 an hour.
