Job Duties:
As a student intern, you will help facilitate the achievement of the Strategic Planning Division’s goals through a variety of activities. Primary tasks will be associated with the Performance Management unit; but this position will be assigned tasks including but not limited to:
• Communication with data owners, consultants, and other stakeholders
• Research and data gathering
• Project management
• Data analysis
• Data visualization
• Statistical modeling
• Predictive analytics
• Use of analysis techniques to improve departmental decision making
• Assisting in updates and troubleshooting of business intelligence tools
REQUIREMENTS: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
PREFERRED: A student of junior class rank or higher. Must have strong interest in data analytics, performance management, and associated work. A proven track record of teamwork and leadership. An interest or background in finance, data science, or transportation engineering is also preferred. Programming in Python, SQL, or similar computational languages.
OTHER: Applicants must be at least a three-fourths time student and be able to work at least 10 hours a week when classes are in session. Temporary full-time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Knowledge or interest in programming languages and/or data governance software is preferred.
