The accepted applicant will be working one-on-one with researchers in describing sediment cores taken from the Sand Hills in May 2023. They will subsample the sediment cores, catalogue the samples, and also sub-sample them for different types of analysis. The analysis will also be part of the work and research for the applicant – they will use different chemicals to process them and sieve the subsamples into vials for further analyses. Macro-fossils will need to be extracted from the sediment as well for carbon-14 dating.
The applicant will be immersed in all of this, and even the writing and creating of graphs to explain the data after the samples are processed.
