The Taste Research Lab at the Nutrition and Health Sciences Department has an opening for an undergraduate researcher starting as soon as possible. Available projects will examine taste signaling pathways using a combination of tools including knockin/knockout mice and taste organoids. Experience with molecular biology, cell culture and animal models are desired, but not required.
Faculty Advisor Mentoring Philosophy
Students in my lab get exposure to cutting-edge research in the fields of taste and nutrition. Undergraduate students are paired with a postdoctoral fellow while working on their individual project. This approach has proved to provide the best training opportunity, and foster team building and mentoring skills. My office door is always open to students, and I believe in hands-on mentoring. We have fun at weekly lab meetings where students present their research work or discuss a new paper in the field. Past undergraduate students have found placement in top graduate and medical schools.
