An Introduction to the Community Learning Center at Campbell elementary
Generally, a Community Learning Center (CLC) provides high-quality academic and enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. These programs offer a variety of activities that complement and amplify what they’re learning in school. CLC clubs help develop problem-solving and creative thinking skills as well as encourages community and parent engagement for the success of the children. We offer before school programming as well as after school programming that runs from 3:38 until 6pm.
What Would Your Role Look Like?
A vital part of programming is attendance taking and records keeping. This may sound simple, but it is a vital piece of our CLC. Accurate attendance and records are an important piece of keeping students safe, engaging families, and reporting data for grants and funding. Here are some of the tasks that we need assistance performing:
– Entering data for after school snack counts.
– Taking attendance for after school and entering that data into our records.
– Communicating with parents who are coming to pick their child up.
– Interact with families as they pick their child up to encourage community engagement.
– Sign students out with their caregivers when they are picked up.
– Improving the way we take attendance and keep records. We are by no means set in the way we
operate. Part of what we are requesting your assistance with is developing the most efficient system
possible. You will have the freedom to propose a new system and CLC staff will implement it.
– Time Commitment – 10 hours/week (M-Th 3:30-6:00)
Characteristics of Someone who would Thrive in this Role
– Is good at interacting with students
– Is detail oriented
– A skilled communicator that can engage families as well as other members of the CLC team.
– An innovator. We are looking to improve the way we keep records to make it more efficient.
– Likes working in a collaborative environment.
This is an in-person position with flexible schedule for the course of 5 weeks (9/19/22 – 10/16/22). The Campbell Elementary Community Learning Center Attendance and Family Engagement Intern will work around 10 hours per week at a $15/hour rate.
