Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Geodesy/Survey student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2024 at our Greenwood Village, CO office. Job Description
The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of surveying. Our intern will be exposed to a variety of surveying projects including Boundary, ALTA, Easement, Right of Way, Topographic and As-built surveys. These surveys will be based on various methods of data collection such as GPS, total station, photogrammetry, and laser scanning.
The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
Required Experience
- Must be proficient in utilizing AutoCAD.
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation v8, Bentley InRoads, and Carlson Survey is a plus.
- Ability to do survey related research is desired.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions, i.e., heat, rain, cold, etc.
- Hike to remote locations.
- Basic understanding of survey equipment.
- Ability to travel for periods of up to 4 weeks.
- Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree.
- Pursuing a surveying degree at an A.B.E.T. accredited university is desired.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.

- Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
