I. Position Description
The District Executive/ScoutReach helps select, train, and inspire volunteers, interns, and Program Specialists to execute tasks and objectives that produce quality Scouting programs in nontraditional settings. Lead volunteers and staff in the development and implementation of a plan for growth and the realization of Scouting values in the lives of youth. Develop strength and stability in a district that will provide for continuity and systematic leadership cultivation and development. Recruit and cultivate strong volunteer leadership who will help the district achieve fundraising, membership, unit, and program goals.
II. Essential Functions (Principle Responsibilities)
Train Staff on program delivery: supplies, calendar, schedule, meetings, product sales, and lead programs when necessary
With the Senior Leadership Team Develop and lead a Scoutreach Committee
Work with universities and colleges across the council to develop internships and work opportunities to aid in staffing programs to provide quality Scoutreach opportunities.
Review and approve Scoutreach staff time sheets.
Develop and approve Program Specialists goals and conduct reviews (quarterly for full time, bi-annually for part time).
Provide support in the planning and execution of afterschool programs across the Council commonly referred to as Community Learning Center (CLC).
Ensure membership and unit growth through strong retention, expansion and quality programs.
Develop and supervise Day Camp and Summer Camp programs for Scoutreach youth.
Serve as a resource to District Director in connecting funding to Scoutreach programs.
Provide support for all units identified in the Scoutreach District: membership, units, product sales, camp attendance, recruitment, training, and creation of a volunteer coaching team.
III. Other Related Activities (Special Responsibilities)
Council program and related duties are assigned as needed. These can include: Advisor to a Council Activity, Camp Position, Special Event or any other duty the Scout Executive or his designee decides that needs your attention. These duties are for the employee and Council growth.
IV. Work Relationships, Supervision, Volunteer Relations
Supervision of paid intern positions are facilitated along with District Director. All employees must recognize the importance of a good working relationship with other Professionals, Paraprofessionals and Clerical staff members. Recognize the importance of a close and harmonious working relationship with all volunteers.
X. Position Qualifications
Initially, the District Executive position requires a college degree. Training at the Professional Development Center is required within the first three months on the job. Additional professional development training is necessary as tenure on the job increases. The Training course is scheduled at the discretion of the staff leader and the Scout Executive. During certain times of the year, heavy demands on the District Executives personal time are required.
XI. Salary Range
$42,000 to $49,000
