Interview Format

Know The Format

If not offered, ask in advance for information on the format of the interview. Many interviews are conducted between the candidate and one interviewer at the organization’s site. Other formats include: 

  • On-Campus
  • Phone
  • Prerecorded
  • Virtual
  • Groups

Some may include formal testing, a series of interviews with different interviewers and groups, facility tours, and/ or social events. 

Virtual Interviews

  • Connect to the internet to ensure it’s working.
  • Use a laptop or a desktop with a web camera, not your cell phone.
  • Ensure you have a working microphone and speaker, headphones with these options will work.
  • Find a quiet and well-lit place, keep a neutral background, remove any distractions or clutter, and use colors that complement your outfit and hair color. 

Pre-recorded Interviews

  • Read the instructions.
  • Choose a recording space similar to a virtual interview.
  • Ensure you have good internet connection and use a desktop or laptop with a webcam.
  • Schedule your recording time.
  • Practice your responses and re-record if available.
