Jessica Olson, a Senior majoring in Architectural Engineering at UNL, is spending her summer as an Electrical Intern at Alvine. Her journey into the internship began with inspiration from her lighting professor, Dr. Eble-Hankins, whose work at Alvine motivated Jessica to apply for the position.

As an Electrical Intern, Jessica works alongside electrical engineers, specializing in lighting and power design. Her responsibilities include assisting with daily tasks such as reviewing submittals, performing lighting calculations using software, and consulting various code books.

“I am most excited to feel like family at this company! They are such a close knit group and they have given me the warmest welcome. I am looking forward to site tours, as well! Alvine is working on some pretty cool projects, such as the new Mutual of Omaha tower and the renovation of Eppley Airfield. I am looking forward to expanding further on my knowledge through real world experiences that I can't get in the classroom,” said Jessica.

Outside of her studies, Jessica is involved in the Nebraska Engineering Student Council at Omaha (NESCO) and the National Association of Engineering Student Councils (NAESC) as the Midwest Communications Coordinator.

Looking ahead, Jessica wants to do what she loves within her career. As a St. Louis native, Nebraska has become a second home for her, and she even considers living in Omaha as part of her future.
