“I would recommend that every student checks out the Career Services' resources as I strongly believe they have helped me land all of my past internships!”

Ella Masso is a senior majoring in Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Communication Studies. Since May, she has been working with Mortenson Construction as a Social Media Intern.

“In my role as a Social Media Intern, I help oversee all content on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. I work diligently to ensure we are posting at least once a day. I write copy and create graphics for various social media posts on complex topics in architecture, engineering and construction to showcase what Mortenson is building around the United States.” said Ella.

She describes her experience thus far as “unforgettable,” due to the opportunities she’s taken part in.

“During the summer, I got to climb the roof of Mortenson’s building to place a time-lapse camera up there! We wanted to catch the seasons changing over the Minneapolis skyline. In addition to this, I got the opportunity to visit a project site where Mortenson team members were building a hospital. It was so insightful to see first-hand all the hard work they were putting into the project!” said Ella.

Ella is no stranger when it comes to utilizing Career Services’ resources. She credits the Job & Internship Search Guide and Career Coach, Natalie Becerra, for helping her with landing her professional experiences in college.

“I most frequently have used the Job & Internship Guide. In this guide, I have learned tips and best practices for my resume, cover letter and my LinkedIn page. In addition to these resources, I also utilize my career coach, Natalie Becerra, all the time! Natalie has done mock interviews with me and, again, looked over all my application materials.” said Ella.

Ella values her internship experience as she intends to continue her passion for social media and digital marketing after graduation this upcoming May. Her love for creativity and strategy has helped her discover her desired career path. Ella also wants to keep developing her photography business, reiterating her commitment to blending her interests in visual storytelling and digital engagement.

Outside of her studies, Ella is an ambassador for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, project manager for Ad Club, social media strategist for Jacht, an active member of Kappa Delta and an active member of Order of Omega.
