Inclement Weather Policy
Our Inclement Weather Policy is established to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff and visitors of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) during severe weather conditions. Inclement weather includes but is not limited to severe snowstorms, icy conditions, extreme cold temperatures, and other weather-related emergencies that may pose a threat to the safety of individuals on campus. University Career Services (UCS) will maintain regular operations as long as UNL remains open. In the event that UNL should close, all UCS operations will also be cancelled. Information regarding closures or delays will be communicated by email as early as possible, and prominently displayed on both the UNL and UCS official website homepages, unl.edu and careers.unl.edu. We will provide a full refund, less a $50 administration fee of any registration fees paid, or the option to apply full registration fees toward participation in a future career fair, in the event of a cancellation.

Preparing for Your Visit
- Make sure your jobs are posted on Handshake and attached to your fair registration! Students will be able to see these before the fair. For more information on how to post, head to our website.
- If you are having a hard time updating your career fair registration, here is a guide to help.
- Connect with students via Handshake or LinkedIn to let them know you're coming and would love to meet with them. Be as intentional as possible as students are often turned off by what appears to be a mass message!
- Mentally prep for a long day of standing and talking with the vast amount of students who come into our fair each day. The more engaging you are in pulling them into your table, the better conversations you'll have.
- Have a plan on how to capture student information. UNL Career Services is excited to introduce a new way for attending employers to streamline their interaction with students at the upcoming fair. This year we're offering the option to utilize the Handshake Booth Check-in System. Scroll down to During the Fair - Day of Details section to get an overview on how it will work.
Local Hotels & Accommodations
Since we are located right in Downtown Lincoln, you will be close to a variety of hotels, all within walking distance to campus. Head to the link below for a list of accommodations.
Day-of Details
Welcome/Unloading Zone & Parking
Days 1, September 16 (East Campus)
If you will be attending the Annual CASNR Breakfast:
Starting at 7:00 a.m., please park in the 37th and Fair Street parking lot. You will be given a parking permit by the lot attendant when you arrive. Only park where directed by parking staff. If you do not, parking fines may range from $10-500 and will be the responsibility of the employer. You can walk from there to the breakfast location on the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons Plaza. If you have a lot of materials with you, we will have transportation available to drive you to Dinsdale and volunteers will take your materials to your booth in the Union.
If you will not be attending the breakfast:
Starting at 10:15 am, vehicles can pull into our welcome and unloading zone outside of Entomology Hall to drop off their passengers and supplies. We will have support available to help move career materials to your booth if you are planning on attending solo or need extra assistance. Once items are dropped off, you will be directed to park in the 37th & Fair Street parking lot. You will be given a parking permit by the lot attendant when you arrive. Only park where directed by parking staff. If you do not, parking fines may range from $10-500 and will be the responsibility of the employer.
Days 2-4, September 17-19 (City Campus)
Starting at 10:15 am each fair day, employers can pull up to the Union unloading zone (1400 R. Street) and meet our unloading staff. You have two options for getting your booth materials to the event space:
- Option 1: Unload your booth materials, and our staff will make sure they're waiting for you at your booth in the Union while you drive to the parking garage.
- Option 2: Stop at the unloading zone to receive your free parking pass. Drive to the garage, park and carry your own booth materials to the Union. There is a ramp on the west side of the building.
The closest parking garage option is the Larson Building parking garage (1317 Q St, Lincoln, NE 68508), but you can park for free at any Park & Go garage. Do not store your parking pass close to your cell phone as this can deactivate the pass. Then, walk to the Union (1400 R St) for check in!

Handshake Booth Check-in
Capture Student Information at the Fair
At UNL Career Services, we're excited to introduce a new way for attending employers to streamline their interaction with students at the upcoming career fair. This year, we're offering the option to utilize the Handshake In-person Booth Check-in system. Here's how it works:
Step 1: Receive Your Unique QR Code
- Each participating organization will receive a unique QR code for their booth. You do not need to print off your QR code ahead of time. We will have them for you at your table.
Step 2: Student Check-In
- When students approach your booth, invite them to scan your QR code to "check in."
Step 3: Post-Fair Benefits
- After the fair, students will receive a list of the employers they visited.
- Your designated representative for this fair will receive a list of the students who checked into your booth.
This streamlined process benefits both students and employers by providing valuable information about their fair connections. While not mandatory, we encourage you to utilize this new feature.
Wi-Fi Access
Career participants can access free Wi-Fi by selecting NU Guest and logging in with the following credentials:
- Username: Career Fair
- Password: Huskers
Employer Lunch & Lounge
Employer Lunch:
Day 1 (Sept. 16):
Each participating representative will receive a lunch ticket for the East Campus Dining Center, located on the bottom floor of the East Union. Due to space limitations, career fair employers will be asked to use to-go containers to put their selections in. Then, employers will take their selections up to the Prairie Suite on the 3rd floor (space specifically reserved for career fair employers). Eating utensils and napkins will be located in the Prairie Suite.
Days 2-4 (Sept. 17-19):
Each participating representative will receive a lunch ticket to eat at one of our Nebraska Union vendors (Subway, Imperial Palace, Valentino’s, and Chick-fil-A). If you choose not to eat in the Union, downtown restaurants are within walking distance. Lunch tickets are not valid at off-campus restaurants or Starbucks in the Union.
Employer Lounge:
For all career fair days, we will have space reserved that is solely for employers. This space will include snacks, water, and tables for you to take a break and take care of whatever you may need, even if that's just personal time for yourself or a quiet space to take a phone call!
Day 1 (Sept. 16): The Garden Room, located directly outside of the Career Fair space.
Day 2 (Sept. 17): Two Locations – Regency Suite until 2pm & Career Services, Room 225 Nebraska Union for the entirety of the fair.
Days 3-4 (Sept. 17-19): Chimney Rock, exit the Ballroom and take a left down the hall.
Photography
Photography is permitted at the career fair to capture positive moments, but attendees should be considerate of comfort levels, avoid actions increasing pressure on students during interactions with employers, and ensure open aisles for student movement due to the crowded space.

Attending the Next or a Future Career Fair Day
Attending the next day:
Career Fair staff at the Help Desk (next to the Employer Check-in Station) will have access to the following day's map to help you double check your next day booth location. If you are staying in your same booth location the next day, you will be able to leave your display up in whatever capacity works best for you. If your booth is moving, please pack up and move your belongings to your new booth. You will be able to set it up that night or just leave it to set up for the morning.
Attending Non-consecutive days:
If you are attending non-consecutive days of the career fairs, we are able to store your materials for you in the interim.
- Day 1 (Sept. 16): Please pack up your display and bring it to the Career Services info desk located near check-in. Career Services Staff members will ensure your packages are marked and directed to the appropriate future career fair day location.
- Days 2-4 (Sept. 17-19): Please pack up your display and drop it off with a staff member in the Career Services office, Room 225.
