Joanna Calel is a senior majoring in English with minors in Ethnic Studies and Sociology. This summer, she is exploring two different internship opportunities through the university. Her first internship is with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life as the Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council Summer Staff Representative. Her second internship is with the Department of English as a Young Writers Camp Intern.

Joanna’s diverse internships across various university departments reflect her passionate commitment to fostering connections. Her experiences in Greek Life and being a passionate writer have uniquely equipped her to support incoming students and cultivate their interests.

Joanna shares, "since joining [Greek Life], I’ve gotten the opportunity to learn a variety of different skills and find a community that supports and loves me. I’m excited to help incoming students find their community if Greek life is what they choose.”

She also reflected on her unforgettable experience at Young Writers Camp years ago, expressing, “I’m really excited for the opportunity to encourage students' love for writing and have a full circle moment.”

Joanna credits the Job and Internship Search Guide when it comes to strengthening her resume and cover letters, helping her land these roles.

"The Job and Internship Search Guide was a great resource which I was constantly referring back to when I was creating my resume and writing my cover letter.”

Outside of her studies, Joanna is a member of Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority Inc., Multicultural Greek Council, NAACP, and Slam Poetry. She aspires to work in a non-profit as a grant writer in the future.
