Internship Memorandum of Understanding

What is a Memorandum of Understanding? 

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) is a document outlining the key terms of an agreement between two or more parties. This document is often required for students wanting academic credit for their internship or for international students wishing to obtain US-based employment. 

Instructions for filling out 

Students needing to complete this form should work with their hiring supervisor to complete the form elements.  Both the student and employer should agree to the information provided in the document.  Once both parties complete and sign the document, the document should be sent to any/all units that need a copy.  

Where to submit, once completed: 
  • Students completing an internship for credit through their college/program: Submit to your college career team.    
  • Students applying for Curricular Practical Training (CPT): Submit documentation to the International Student and Scholar Office- Online request for CPT 
  • Employers participating in the Internship Payroll Management Services: Submit a copy to Katelyn Rife at katelyn.rife@unl.edu and careerservices@unl.edu
  • Campus Employers: Submit a copy to UNL Payroll, 401 ADMS 0435 and to Career Services, 225 NE Union 0451.
