Prepare for the Day
Promote your openings: Post your jobs on Handshake and link them to your fair registration so students can view them in advance. Need help? Here's how to post a job and how to link it to your registration.
Prepare for the day: Expect a busy, energetic environment. Dress comfortably, stay hydrated, and review last year's fair statistics to help you prepare.
Follow up easily: Capture student information easily using the Handshake QR code at your booth. Students who check in will have their information automatically sent to you after the fair. You can also download it later, here's how.
Help students engage: Students appreciate meeting representatives at all levels but may be unsure how to start. Encourage your team to introduce themselves and initiate conversations.
Stay in the loop: Add handshake@mail.joinhandshake.com as a safe sender in your email. Important event communications will be sent from this address as the fair approaches, and you won’t want to miss them!
Inclement Weather Policy
Our Inclement Weather Policy is established to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff and visitors of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) during severe weather conditions. Inclement weather includes but is not limited to severe snowstorms, icy conditions, extreme cold temperatures, and other weather-related emergencies that may pose a threat to the safety of individuals on campus. University Career Services (UCS) will maintain regular operations as long as UNL remains open. In the event that UNL should close, all UCS operations will also be cancelled. Information regarding closures or delays will be communicated by email as early as possible, and prominently displayed on both the UNL and UCS official website homepages, unl.edu and careers.unl.edu. We will provide a full refund, less a $50 administration fee of any registration fees paid, or the option to apply full registration fees toward participation in a future career fair, in the event of a cancellation.
During the Fair
Day Of Details
This fair is open to students of all majors and degree levels to connect with a variety of employers casually, both in attire and environment. The event will run from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. You may arrive to set up your table any time after 12:45 PM.
Unloading & Parking
You will receive parking validation for any Park & Go garage. The closest garage to City Campus is the Larson Building (see City Campus Parking Map).
Due to the smaller size of this event, we will not be offering display drop-off services. If you prefer to bring your materials upstairs before parking, several metered spaces are available in front of the Nebraska Union (subject to availability).
After parking, enter through the front entrance of the Nebraska Union and proceed to the back side of the building. Look for the large circular staircase and take the stairs, or use the elevator located to the left. Our team will be there to welcome you and get you checked in.
Booth Locations: Will be posted soon!
Booth assignments are placed on a first-paid, first-served basis. The best way to get the best booth spot is to settle your invoice asap. Unpaid registrations may be canceled after March 23 to accommodate employers on the waitlist. If you anticipate payment challenges, please contact Career Services to come up with a plan.
Collect Student Information
We offer the option to utilize the Handshake In-Person Booth Check-In system. Here's how it works:
Step 1: Receive Your Unique Handshake QR Code
Each participating organization will receive a unique QR code for their booth. You do not need to print it ahead of time, we’ll have it ready for you at your table.
Step 2: Student Check-In
When students approach your booth, invite them to scan your QR code to “check in.” It never hurts to double check that they've completed the process before they leave your booth.
Step 3: Post-Fair Benefits
After the fair, students will get a list of the employers they visited, and your fair registrar will receive a list of the students who checked in, along with their contact information. You can also download it later, here's how. This process makes it easy for both students and employers to stay connected. Participation isn’t required, but we encourage you to give it a try.
We also encourage students to bring printed resumes. If you can’t accept paper copies or prefer not to, please communicate that preference clearly to students.
Wi-Fi Access
Career participants can access free Wi-Fi by selecting NU Guest and logging in with the following credentials:
Name: S26JTFair
Password: Fa!r26Sp
Photography Policy
Photography is permitted at the career fair to capture positive moments, but attendees should be considerate of comfort levels, avoid actions increasing pressure on students during interactions with employers, and ensure open aisles for student movement due to the crowded space.
After the Fair
End of Day Details: Shipping Your Booth Materials
After the fair, take your packed materials to the Career Services Office (Nebraska Union, Room 225). There we will have stations for you to drop off your already-packed displays to be picked up at your scheduled time.
Please note: It is the employer’s responsibility to contact your shipping provider to schedule pickup of your materials. We’re happy to hold your packages and provide a convenient drop-off location, but shipping arrangements must be made directly by your team.
Career Fair Feedback
We’d love to hear your thoughts after the fair! A post-event survey will be emailed to you. If you don’t receive it, please contact us at careerservices@unl.edu.
