ELGIBILITY & PARTICIPATION
The Career Development Scholarship Challenge will open on Friday, August 23, 2024, and run until Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Students can complete career development tasks to be eligible for monthly prizes and a grand prize drawing. To be eligible for the monthly drawing, a student must have fully completed 5 or more tasks by the last day of the month: 8/31/24, 9/30/24, and 10/31/24. To be eligible for the grand prize drawing, a student must have fully completed 5 or more tasks from Level 1: Get Started and 5 or more tasks from Level 2: Explore Further by Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Students are eligible to win a single monthly drawing award during the 2024 Challenge season. Students who win a monthly prize can also be eligible to win the grand prize scholarship if they complete the grand prize requirements and meet all eligibility requirements. If multiple grand prize scholarships are awarded, a student is only eligible to win a single grand prize scholarship.
Students can self-track participation progress by utilizing the free, downloadable 2024 Career Development Scholarship Task Checklist and/or by tracking the task forms' confirmation emails. If a student is unsure about their submission records, they can email careerservices@unl.edu to request submission confirmation, but it may take up to 2 weeks for confirmation via this method.
The Career Development Scholarship Challenge is open to any eligible full-time undergraduate student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. An eligible student who wants to be part of the monthly and grand prize drawings means any person who meets all of the following requirements in the Fall 2024 academic semester:
- Admitted and enrolled as an undergraduate degree-seeking student
- Student in good standing at the University (At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, students are considered to be in academic good standing if they are currently enrolled or currently eligible to enroll in regularly scheduled classes for the next term)
- Is considered a full-time student by being enrolled in 12 or more credits
- Has fully completed the required monthly and/or grand prize Challenge task point totals
By participating in this Challenge you agree to allow staff from Career Services to check with Student Conduct & Community Standards (and Institutional Equity & Compliance) regarding your conduct record.
WINNERS/SELECTION CRITERIA
Winners during this Challenge will be randomly selected from among eligible participants who have completed the minimum requirements for each prize level. Each winner selected will be subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. UNL reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether winners meet eligibility and compliance requirements. Upon UNL’s satisfactory conclusion of each winner’s verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, such winners will be declared the official winners of this Challenge.
UNL Career Services will notify winners via the email address noted in their registration records. Such notification will include instructions on how to claim the prize. To claim the prize, a winner must follow the instructions in the notification.
Winners must come to the University Career Services office (Nebraska Union, 1400 R Street, Room 225, Lincoln, NE 68588) to pick up and sign for their prize. Winners must produce official identification such as a driver’s license or NUID. Prizes must be claimed within seven (7) business days of the notification. If the individual does not claim the prize within this time, Career Services will award the prize to the next qualified entry based on the selection criteria. Career Services will use all reasonable efforts to award all prizes within three (3) weeks of notification of the award.
All prizes are non-transferable. No cash or other substitutions are allowed. Decisions of Career Services are final. Each individual’s odds of winning are dependent on the overall number of entries submitted during this Challenge.
In the event a winner does not meet these Official Rules or eligibility requirements as determined by the Sponsor, the winner will forfeit the prize. In such an event, the Sponsor will award the prize to the next qualified selected participant who meets the selection criteria. This process will continue until the prize is awarded.
PRIZES
Monthly prizes will be drawn in the beginning of each month (September, October, and November 2024). Each month 2 monthly winners will be drawn. Monthly prize drawing winners can choose their winning prize from the remaining prizes listed in the Career Development Scholarship Challenge Prize Catalog.
Two grand prize $2,000 scholarships will be awarded during early December 2024. Winners who qualify, regardless of resident or non-resident status, will be awarded the amount above. The scholarship requires full-time enrollment for Spring 2024. The scholarship amount will be applied to the winner’s next semester's financial aid award package. Some exceptions may apply, such as study abroad or experiential learning semester, military deployment, or other situation. With approval, the scholarship may be deferred to fall 2024.
If the grand prize winner is a graduating senior, the winning scholarship amount may be applied to any remaining outstanding student account balances, including graduation fees. If no other adjustments are required by the financial aid policy, the remaining amount may be refunded to the student.
Prize winnings could impact financial aid awards, including work-study eligibility, so it is highly recommended that any winner contact Husker Hub before accepting a prize to understand any financial aid implications it can have on their financial aid package.
All federal, state and local taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner and UNL encourages winners to consult with The Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid or a tax advisor prior to accepting such prize. A winner may choose to decline the prize, and in such event the Sponsor will award the prize to the next qualified entry based on the selection criteria.
