Majors by Holland Code

Many of the career assessments offered in the Explore Center are based on a theory called the Holland Code. Most people can be categorized as one of six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, or Conventional. People are usually happier and more satisfied if there is a compatibility or “fit” between their personality type and their chosen work environment that allows them to express their values and interests.

Similarly, students can consider majors based on the categories of Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, or Conventional. In the table below, there are links to UNL majors, sorted by Holland Code.

This resource is best used together with Focus 2 results, the Holland Code Activity, or My Work Personality Worksheet to first determine a Holland Code before connecting the code to potential majors.
