Research, Engineering, and Design Teams, or RED Teams, promote hands-on engineering through competitions and challenges. We strive to help start new competitions and challenges as well as promote independent research and design.
The first team is NASA Micro-g NeXT. For the Micro-g NeXT challenge, NASA sends out challenges for college teams to solve. Our team works using the entire engineering process, from brainstorming, to prototype manufacturing, and finally testing. The Micro-g NExT team travels to the NBL each year to test the final device and present it to NASA.
The second team is the Maker Group. The goal is to promote hands on making/skill building with a community of diverse Makers. The club meets at the on-campus makerspace and provides resources to help members pursue individual projects and learning workshops.
The third team is SUITS. SUITS creates and implements software for use in AR EVA Suit operations for the Artemis missions. The team is tasked with creating AR interfaces for robotics, tools, maps, and other mission oriented objectives.
We also are always open to new design teams, and we help out anyone that wants to start one, no matter the year. Contact us at redteamsunl@gmail.com if you would like to join us!
