To encourage the development and dissemination of knowledge of meteorology and climatology in all of their phases and applications, and the advancement of their professional ideas. This purpose is accomplished by the following specific functions: (a) provide the means by which its members can assemble to exchange ideas of common interest and affording its members the opportunity of improving their technical knowledge and skills through meetings wherein invited speakers describe latest developments in meteorology and climatology; (b) representing the American Meteorological Society at the local level and promoting its aims through education of the public; and (c) promoting meteorological/climatological education.
