The Food Programs Coordinator VISTA will aid the YMCA’s work in education and food access. The role’s key objectives are consolidating, organizing and implementing an association-wide system of menu planning, food ordering, monitoring, tracking and reporting. The VISTA will focus on research and plan for nutrition-related, healthy living and recreational curriculum and programming. Through this work, the VISTA member will increase awareness of food insecurity and poverty and their root causes across the Greater Lehigh Valley. They will assist with summer meals promotion via flyers, social media, and direct outreach. Overall, the work will contribute to building the capacity of the Greater Valley YMCA working on innovative food access programming.
This assignment is full-time and requires a 1 year commitment. The position is based with the Greater Valley YMCA.
An AmeriCorps VISTA assignment is a federal volunteer opportunity for which you commit to a year of service and receive a living allowance. Participants must be 18 years of age and have a combination of community service and/or equivalent college experience. They receive an end-of-service stipend or education award, health coverage, training, a relocation allowance, a living allowance and childcare assistance if eligible. The work is full-time; VISTAs are permitted to do paid part-time work during their assignment to supplement their income.
