Fellowships Expires April 26, 2021

Do you love science, technology, engineering or math? Ever consider a career in teaching?

We can help.

The WW Teaching Fellowship recruits the nation’s best and brightest recent college graduates and career changers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, or math) with generous financial support to complete an intensive yearlong master’s degree program in teaching at one of WW Teaching Fellowship’s partner universities in Pennsylvania.

How the Fellowship works:

  • Fellows are admitted into a field-based master’s degree program at a partner university and obtain teacher certification in one of the STEM fields.
  • Each Fellow receives a generous stipend of $32,000.
  • All Fellows spend one full school year in intensive preparation for teaching in a high-need urban or rural secondary school prior to becoming the teacher-of-record.
  • Upon program completion, Fellows commit to teaching for at least three years in a high-need school. NOTE: Fellows who attend the University of Pennsylvania and West Chester University will complete their Fellowship commitment in Foundation-approved public schools in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). Fellows who attend Duquesne University will complete their Fellowship commitment in Foundation-approved schools in Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) or the surrounding area.
  • Fellows receive extensive support and mentoring during the master’s program and throughout the three-year teaching commitment.
  • Fellows become lifelong members in a national network of WW Fellows.

Partner universities:

  • Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA
  • University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
  • West Chester University, Philadelphia campus, PA

Fellows receive discounted tuition. For more information regarding tuition costs, visit this page.

Applications will only be accepted online and through the WW Foundation. To be considered as a Fellow, your Teaching Fellowship application serves as your application to the partner university. You do not need to apply separately. While Fellows are notified of their acceptance within two months of each deadline date, all new Fellows (regardless of acceptance date) will begin the Fellowship program in summer 2021.

Desired Skills & Experience

Competitive candidates will:

  • Have majored in and/or have a strong professional background in a STEM field.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree (or its international equivalent) in a STEM field by Spring 2021 with a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to students in high-need urban and rural schools.
