The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University Affiliated Research Center, is searching for an information system engineer to join our team. SDL has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work with internal and external stakeholders on all phases of the system engineering process: requirements definition and management, design, integration, test, and operations

· Responsible for technical quality and content of system documentation

· Ensure system validation and verification coverage

· Develop an understanding of information system architectures and components

· Ensure proper DoD security accreditation requirements are met

· Analyze and recommend technologies to provide timely and cost-effective solutions

Required Qualifications:

· BS degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering

o MIS degree may be substituted when paired with five years’ experience in information systems

· Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and engineering of information system solutions that include services such as: virtualization, container management, networking (Routers, switches, VLAN), storage, system backup, etc.

· Understanding of information systems security best practices and use of security tools

· Strong organizational skills, quick learner, and demonstrated problem solver

· Able to apply knowledge to complex, practical situations

· Work well independently and as part of a team

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a wide range of internal and external customers

· Some travel is required

· Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with DoD programs

· Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework

· Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or TS/SCI)
