Internship Requirements:
· Piedmont Plastics Summer Sales Internship Program will last approximately 9 weeks (June – July )
o Working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
o Applicants must be enrolled in, and returning to an educational institution for Fall 2021
o Must have at least a 2.5 GPA
o Sales, Industrial Distribution, or Business-related majors preferred but not required
In this position you will be required to:
· Shadow all aspects of the Sales, Warehouse and Administrative functions of a plastics distribution company including but not limited to:
o Packaging, shipping and receiving features
o Accounting procedures for the branch including filing, billing, and processing various paperwork
o Supporting Inside Sales Team with writing orders, negotiating pricing, handling tenured customers, forecasting business and other duties
o Assisting Outside Sales Team with documentation and fulfilling marketing needs along with learning pricing strategies
o Attend weekly meetings with the Branch Manager to understand the basic principles of leadership and management responsibilities
· Travel to the home office in Charlotte, NC (approximately 3 consecutive business days) to meet with Executive and Senior Management, see overall company operations, and participate in training sessions for sales and business
· Present information learned during branch meetings and check-in calls
Qualifications:
· Interest in sales and plastics distribution and an eagerness to learn
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and comfortable learning new software
· Must have strong, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
· Must have the ability to follow through on multiple tasks
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
