Data and Security Intern
The Data and Security Intern is responsible for providing support for the NHA data department through a variety of channels including processing and analyzing hospital claims data and other health information to measure hospital performance, financial and clinical outcomes. Additionally, this Intern will research hospital-based best practices and procedures to maintain internal data security.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and abilities in the following areas:
· Will assist with the processing and analytics of hospital claims data.
· Will process and create data analytics as assigned.
· Will research best practices for hospital data security. Will create hospital information materials specific to best practices.
· Assist with other projects as assigned.
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
· Prefer experience with Microsoft Access.
· Excellent communication skills
· Proficient in writing
· Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
· Demonstrated organizational skills
· Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
· High school diploma or equivalency.
· Pursing coursework towards a degree in data analytics and/or data security.

This is a FLSA non-exempt position. Will work a minimum of 15 hours per week and no more than 20 hours per week at $12.00 per hour.
Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods. Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license in the state of Nebraska.
Working Conditions: Primarily works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated, tobacco-free environment.
Position reports to: Vice President of Data and Quality.
Position works directly with: Director of Data Analytics
