Launch your career this Summer 2021 as an intern with MIT in an intensive, hands-on professional experience that will prepare you for a position in fundraising and alumni relations.
The Alumni Association and Office of Resource Development at MIT are excited to be one of the hosts of the 2021 CASE Summer Advancement Internship. CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) seeks to give up to three (3) participants a fully rounded view of the role of advancement/philanthropy. The Summer internship program (June 7-July 30) will provide on-the-job training in the field of Advancement and opportunities to gain knowledge of alumni relations by assisting in projects, programs and services designed to increase support for, awareness of and interest in MIT with alumni, volunteers, parents, students and friends. Moreover, interns will also have the ability to contribute to the fundraising efforts of the Institute by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information to assist in the engagement strategy for prospective donors. Further, you will work alongside industry leaders and in online classrooms to explore opportunities and develop an understanding of the field during this all virtual 8-week, full-time internship that pays a stipend of $5,000 (anticipated 40-hours per week).
This program seeks to increase and diversify the number of professionals in educational advancement. CASE defines diversity to include ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability.
To be considered for this program, your application material MUST include the following:
1. Resume
Please submit a one-page resume. Include school, declared major, current GPA, expected graduation year and educational background and/or work experience.
2. Personal statement of purpose and commitment to diversity
Please submit a statement (750 words or less), sharing your interest in advancement, how this internship program would further your interest in this field, and the importance of diversity in the workplace.
3. Please specify area of particular interest.
Prospect Development (SIM) or Alumni Relations (AR or AR/Communities)
4. Two Letters of Recommendation
Please submit two letters of recommendation (professor, past employer, college staff, etc.).

All students are encouraged to apply. You must be a current undergraduate or graduate student to apply. Rising juniors and seniors are preferred, and we will also consider rising sophomores who have enough coursework and/or work experience to benefit from this program. Applicants should have relevant skills or coursework related to the projects for which they apply.
