Part time Legislative Interns needed for afternoons in Late January through mid March. Main assignment will be to attend/view public hearings for Legislative Bills and Resolutions and take notes on testimony given by stakeholders. Notes taken will be made available to the firm and clients of the firm for their use and information. Other tasks may include: attending meetings on issues of interest to the firm and it’s clients, delivering information to States Senators’ Offices, general correspondence between ours and other local firms, researching legislative histories according to client needs, staffing client/Senator social events, etc.
A good applicant should be highly organized, have a strong ability to communicate, must be punctual, and must be self-motivated. An applicant with an interest in government or studying one of the preferred majors is desired. Students will gain first-hand experience in the legislative process and become informed and keep current about legislative issues. This year, due to COVID, most or all of the hearings will be view via NET remotely. Due to social distancing requirements, there won’t be enough seats available in the hearing rooms.
