Your Role and Responsibilities

The Product Owner role is the leader for their product, whether it is a software based asset, application or tool, and is responsible for the business viability and success of the product. Balancing the costs for maintenance and enhancement, the Product Owner works with service line leaders, partners and associate partners to understand the necessary enhancements to their product to maintain competitiveness and differentiation for IBM, while driving high profits and high client satisfaction as measured by the net promoter score surveys. This role is expected to identify new business opportunities within and across industries as well as work closely with Offering Management for incorporating their Product as appropriate in those Offerings. This role requires matrix collaboration and leadership with diverse and global teams spanning IBM clients, business development, offering leaders, partners, solutioners, technical developers and delivery specialists.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Proven successful experience in business development at both the strategic level (generating innovative ideas) and at the tactical level (executing campaigns and solving problems).
  • Creative thinker with analytical, communication, marketing, and customer focus skills.
  • Excellent communicator, able to speak and listen effectively at all levels in the organization.
  • Must have ability to develop and execute detailed plans that effectively target asset users and prospects, collect and interpret user data, and prepare and present concise summaries of findings.
  • Analyze plan and activity performance, understand key drivers to develop and adjust programs to ensure that KPIs are met or exceeded. Make changes to ensure continual improvement.
  • Strong relationship management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships and partnerships with colleagues in other parts of the organization that deliver long-term positive results.
