We’re seeking leaders like you for Generation West Virginia’s Impact Fellowship!
Are you someone who enjoys finding creative solutions to complex challenges? Do you love the idea of having a seat at the table in a state that is reimagining its future? Are you looking to stay in West Virginia, return home to it, or explore the Mountain State for the first time?
The Impact Fellowship invites passionate young leaders to work, live and give in West Virginia through yearlong, paid fellowships with some of the state’s most innovative employers. During the course of a year, Impact Fellows work four days per week with one of our participating employers and spend each Friday volunteering with local nonprofits on projects that positively impact their communities. Although the employers must provide a minimum salary of $31,000, the average salary is $41,000. The salary ranges vary based on experience and industry standards. Employers must also provide benefits or a stipend for benefits to their Fellows.
Each year, innovative employers from across West Virginia partner with Generation West Virginia to offer professional fellowship positions across a wide range of sectors, including architecture, technology, accounting and finance, business operations and management, engineering, community development, research, digital communications, marketing, and many more. Detailed job descriptions for each available position will be posted when applications open in mid-January, 2021.
This year the Host Employers are 84 Agency, Alpha Technologies, Bravo Consulting, Core10, Farms Work Wonders, Greenbrier Environmental Group, McKinley Architecture and Engineering, New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, Pendleton Community Bank, Philanthropy WV, TC Energy, and WV Community Development HUB.
Applicant requirements
- U.S. citizen or eligible to work full-time in the United States through August 2022
- Passionate, hard-working, and driven
- Requirements for specific positions will be listed in the job descriptions posted in mid-January

Applications open January 19, 2021 and must include the following:
- An up-to-date resume
- A short essay response
- A creative one-minute video about who you are and what you are passionate about
Next Steps
We will contact applicants selected as Finalists by mid-March 2021 and all Finalists will be invited to attend virtual Interview Day on April 9, 2021. Host Employers will make final selections for the 2021-22 Impact Fellowship cohort in May 2021. The Impact Fellowship begins August 27, 2021, but fellows may have the opportunity to start sooner depending on availability and employer need.
