David Lerner Associates, a leading Investment Firm located in Syosset, is currently seeking a Sr. Accountant to provide support and leadership to our Finance Team!
The primary role of the Sr. Accountant is to ensure that the Finance Department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes daily, weekly and monthly financial reporting, analyzing accounting records for completeness and conformance to defined standards, and working with the Controller to develop appropriate fiscal strategies, as well as establishing systems for the maintenance of financial records utilizing the latest available technologies.
Additional duties include assisting the Controller with year-end auditing activities, offering accounting services for our subsidiaries, and providing leadership in the Controller’s absence.
The requirements for the position include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related Finance majors plus 3 years working experience, or the equivalent in working experience at a Broker/Dealer (minimum 5-7 years education and experience). The ideal candidate will hold a CPA license and/or a Series 27 FINOP license. The Series 27 will be required within the first year if not already achieved.
Strong Excel skills are a must, and experience with Great Plains is a plus. We are seeking a team member with demonstrable financial management, strong collaboration skills, thoroughness, time management, ethical conduct and most importantly, we need an excellent communicator!
This position has the potential to develop into a Leadership role within our Finance Department. We are open to expanding this role to “Assistant Controller” for the right candidate!
