Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is seeking volunteers who are interested in serving the hungry, poor, homeless, refugees and so much more. We have many opportunities available for volunteering, some of which include:
Refugee Program: Helping drive our refugees to all of their appointments (health department, social security, ELL classes, getting groceries, etc.), as well as helping set up their houses/apartments before they arrive to welcome them to their new home, picking them up from the airport and taking them to their home, delivering food to their house, going grocery shopping with them and so much more. This is more of a base by base situation. Once you offer to volunteer with this program, you would be added to our email list and help on a need by need basis. This is where we need the MOST help right now!
St. Louise Thrift Store: You would be helping doing an assortment of things as far as assisting them with organizing the brand new store, hanging clothes up, ironing clothes, sorting donations, etc.
The Food Market: You would be helping clients shop around for their food items in our small food market we have set up for them as well as sorting and restocking food, filling orders, making sack lunches for our homeless friends, weighing and checking expiration dates of food, etc.
***Eventually, St. Gianna’s Women’s Home: This is where we keep women who have been in domestic violence situations and when COVID is settled down a bit, we will need help with childcare!
