Under the direction of a Project Manager, a Senior Transportation Engineer, and a Corridor Project Director, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Assistant Project Manager serves as an interdisciplinary team member that performs duties related to the planning and administration of complex multi-modal projects. These duties include developing, evaluating, and monitoring transportation alternatives to deliver balanced, multi-modal State transportation projects in a timely and efficient manner; program project planning; reviewing project feasibility and scoping reports; project schedules; coordinating and conducting public meetings; collaborating with local agencies; and coordinating project deliverables with all divisions within Caltrans. The incumbent also implements and adheres to principles of Project Management, including management of project cost, scope and scheduling and provides support to the Project Manager assigned in all phases of the project development process (Planning, Project Approval, Environmental Documents, Design, Right of Way and Construction).
The incumbent is required to drive, travel, and work outdoors, including alongside the travel way of highways, wetlands, in heavy construction zones, on bridge caps and piles, mountain tops and on the property of private citizens. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required to operate a State owned or leased vehicle.
