Handshake for Students

Handshake is the place for students of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to search and apply for internships, co-ops, part-time and full-time jobs.

  • Upload a resume and complete your online career profile
  • Allow your online career profile and resume to be viewable by employers
  • Learn which employers are attending upcoming Career Fairs

Login  today to complete your profile and put your best self forward to employers. And, be sure to download Handshake Mobile (iOS) to discover jobs on the go and to stay on track with reminders for application deadlines and direct messages from employers.

Handshake has replaced Husker Hire Link. If you did not capture your resume and other documents prior to losing access to Husker Hire Link, you are always encouraged to stop by Career Services for assistance in creating a new one.

Handshake for Employers

The transition to Handshake represents a significant milestone in the continuing evolution of our office and the way in which we deliver services to our students, alumni, faculty and staff, and you, the employers who choose to recruit here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We believe that the change to this new platform will improve the overall quality and efficiency of your recruiting experience at Nebraska.

JOIN HANDSHAKE

Some of the biggest improvements you will find when using Handshake include:

  • An easy to use, intuitive interface, with a clean, modern, and simple design -- making it easy to navigate and use.
  • Powerful search tools that  offer you the ability to pinpoint and build candidate pools quickly and easily
  • Built in communication tools that allow you to  message our students directly
  • Added data points that allow you to send communication to the right students at the right time in their academic careers
  • Greatly improved reporting tools 

The full transition from Husker Hire Link to Handshake is complete and employers and students no longer have access to Husker Hire Link.  Handshake is currently the sole recruiting system used at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Use Handshake to submit your registrations to the Fall 2018 Career Fairs and recruiting events.

Handshake for Alumni

University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumni may use Handshake, our on-line job search system for free.

 Handshake allows you to

  • Upload your resume for employers to view in the searchable candidate resume database;
  • Submit your resume for employment opportunities posted by employers
  • Apply for and schedule on-campus interviews with employers seeking alumni candidates;
  • Set-up a job agent to notify you each time a new employment opportunity is posted that meets your qualifications;
  • Receive announcements about employer information sessions or special career events
Accessing Handshake as an Alum:
  • Are you new to Handshake? Handshake may already recognize your email and credentials from the Career Services import. Follow this support article and visit the Handshake Login page. If you need to create an account, you will be prompted to submit additional information to Career Services.  This information, which includes your NUID, full name and contact information, will be used to verify your alumni status prior to account access approval.
  • Did you access Handshake as a student and now you are an alum? Follow this support article and visit the Handshake Login page. You will likely need to create a Handshake password now that you are no longer accessing Handshake through our Single Sign On system.

Handshake for Faculty/Staff

Ways to Use Handshake

There are three different roles in Handshake - Students, Employers and Career Services.

1. Use Handshake to Recruit Students for Your On-Campus Jobs:

Sign up as an Employer to use to Handshake to recruit candidates for your part-time jobs, internships and full-time opportunities. Visit our Employers tab to learn more about the benefits of using Handshake, action steps and helpful hints. Career Services will provide Handshake demonstrations for university faculty and staff – see below more information.

2. Use Handshake to Share Job & Internship Opportunities with Your Students

Career Services will set you up with a student account which will allow you to demonstrate Handshake to your students, search for relevant opportunities to share with your students, and more. Please contact Amber Pape in Career Services to request access to Handshake in this capacity. Additional permissions are available for faculty and staff through a Career Services account. Again, please contact Amber Pape in Career Services to inquire about these additional roles. Career Services will provide Handshake demonstrations for university faculty and staff – see below more information.

You may want to have dual roles in Handshake and we can do that too! First, please go ahead and sign up as an Employer Handshake using the blue “Join Handshake” button above. Then, as described in option 2, please contact Amber Pape for a student account to view Handshake as a student.
