In the summer of 2018, Husker Hire Link switches to Handshake, the leading career platform used at over 400 colleges and more than 200,000 employers.

Handshake for Students

Handshake is the place for students of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to search and apply for internships, co-ops, part-time and full-time jobs.

You can also utilize Handshake to:

  • Upload a resume and complete your online career profile
  • Allow your online career profile and resume to be viewable by employers
  • Learn which employers are attending upcoming Career Fairs
  • View upcoming local and on-campus career events
  • Research contact information for local and national employers
  • Search for and apply to open positions

Login  today to complete your profile and put your best self forward to employers. And, be sure to download Handshake Mobile (iOS) to discover jobs on the go and to stay on track with reminders for application deadlines and direct messages from employers.

Urgent Actions:

Deadline:  June 30, 2018

Action: Download your resume(s), cover letter(s), and other relevant documents from the old Husker Hire Link system.  After this date, your documents will not be available and we will not be able to retrieve them for you.  If you do not download your resume, and you do not have a back-up, you are always encouraged to stop by Career Services for assistance in creating a new one.

Handshake for Employers

The transition to Handshake represents a significant milestone in the continuing evolution of our office and the way in which we deliver services to our students, alumni, faculty and staff, and you, the employers who choose to recruit here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We believe that the change to this new platform will improve the overall quality and efficiency of your recruiting experience at Nebraska.

Some of the biggest improvements you will find when using Handshake include:

  • An easy to use, intuitive interface, with a clean, modern, and simple design -- making it easy to navigate and use.
  • Powerful search tools that  offer you the ability to pinpoint and build candidate pools quickly and easily
  • Built in communication tools that allow you to  message our students directly
  • Added data points that allow you to send communication to the right students at the right time in their academic careers
  • Greatly improved reporting tools 
Employer Action Steps

Beginning May 21, 2018

  • Check the e-mail address that you use to log into the current Husker Hire Link system for an invitation to create your new account on Handshake. If you already use Handshake, you may submit a request to add the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to your list of approved schools.
  • Begin posting your open positions on Handshake. Students will have full access to Handshake on June 6th, so make sure your current jobs/internship opportunities are up and live for students see on this date.
  • Review your open positions in the current Husker Hire Link system and re-post them in Handshake. If you wish, you will be able to complete recruiting in Husker Hire Link on any open position through June 30th. After June 30th, you will need to re-post any unfilled positions in Handshake.
  • Download any job descriptions, student resumes and other important data you may have stored on the Husker Hire Link system. After June 30th, 2018, you will no longer have access to these materials through the Husker Hire Link system.

July 1st, 2018 and beyond

  • The full transition over to Handshake is complete and employers and students will no longer have access to Husker Hire Link.  From this date, Handshake will be the sole recruiting system used at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
  • Use Handshake to submit your registrations to the Fall 2018 Career Fairs and recruiting events.

Handshake for Alumni

University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumni may use Handshake, our on-line job search system for free.

JOIN HANDSHAKE

 Handshake allows you to

  • Upload your resume for employers to view in the searchable candidate resume database;
  • Submit your resume for employment opportunities posted by employers
  • Apply for and schedule on-campus interviews with employers seeking alumni candidates;
  • Set-up a job agent to notify you each time a new employment opportunity is posted that meets your qualifications;
  • Receive announcements about employer information sessions or special career events
Handshake Hints & Training:

When you register for the first time, you may be prompted to submit additional information to Career Services.  This information, which includes your NUID, full name and contact information, will be used to verify your alumni status prior to account access approval.

1. Use Handshake to Recruit Students for Your On-Campus Jobs:

Visit our Employers tab to learn more about the benefits of using Handshake, action steps and helpful hints. Career Services will provide Handshake demonstrations for university faculty and staff starting in late July 2018 through the Fall of 2018 – stay tuned for more information.

2. Use Handshake to Share Job & Internship Opportunities with Your Students

Please contact Amber Pape in Career Services to be added as a faculty/staff Handshake user.  Handshake allows students to:

  • Upload a resume and complete an online career profile
  • Share an online career profile and resume with employers

  • Learn which employers are attending upcoming Career & Internship Fairs
  • View upcoming local and on-campus career events
  • Research contact information for local and national employers
