Mental Health, Equity, and Retention in Engineering Education

Description:

Undergraduate research on mental health in engineering, supported by the John C. and Nettie V. David Memorial Trust Fund. This research examines minoritized engineering students’ experiences of discrimination and the connections between these experiences and their community cultural wealth, mental health and academic outcomes.

Potential Tasks:
We are looking for students who are interested in engineering education or educational psychology and who are driven, organized, and attentive to details. Undergraduate students will assist with recruiting and conducting qualitative interviews, qualitative data analysis, quantitative survey development, and other tasks related to other phases of the research study. Students will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on instruments that we will be using for subsequent phases of the design. There are opportunities to co-author and/or co-present findings from this project with different audiences.

Student Qualification:
We are looking for students who are interested in engineering education or educational psychology and who are driven, organized, and attentive to details. Students from engineering, psychology, sociology, education, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply.

Duration: One to two semesters, including optional summer 2023
Rate: $15/hour
