Potential Student Tasks | Students will learn techniques used in biology and related fields, depending on the particular ongoing research projects. In the lab, this would include use of balances and microbalances, scanning and image analysis software, processing plant tissue samples, data management with excel, data analysis, microscopy, measurement of soil properties, and possibly DNA extraction. In the field this would include measuring tree diameter using tapes and dendrometer bands, collecting plant and soil samples, deploying environmental sensors and dataloggers, maintaining research plot infrastructure. |
Student Qualifications | We will train you on the research activities, so no research experience is required. We expect students to arrive on time, be dedicated to the work to produce high quality data, work safely, diligently, and with attention to detail, work with others as a collaborative team, pay close attention to and follow instructions from your research mentor and ask questions if there is any confusion, be responsible, and be responsive and timely to email communications from research mentors. |
