Are you passionate about immigrants and refugees? Do you want to be part of a project that tells the “People’s History of Nebraska”? Roots of Justice: Historical Truth and Reconciliation project will focus on writing the real story of recent immigrants to Nebraska. Starting with 1970s, the project will focus on telling the story of Nebraska’s experiences with immigrants and refugees with special attention to how Lincoln became “refugee friendly city”. The project will be a story of Nebraska’s recent immigrants and how their experiences have been influenced by racism and other structural and social barriers. This project will culminate in an open-access searchable digital resource that will be available to all of Nebraska’s middle and high school students and will combine narrative, photographs, videos, and oral histories.
