Position Overview
The Building Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Nebraska East Union. They will strive to provide excellent customer service to all guests through positive interactions, providing efficient and effective event services, and troubleshooting issues should they arise. While on shift, Building Managers will oversee the Event Setup Staff and Welcome Desk Ambassadors and frequently setup rooms themselves. They also work closely with professional staff, including the Facilities and Operations Coordinator, Hospitality Services team, and Facilities Assistants. You can expect to gain skills in the areas of communication, leadership, team building, people management, and conflict resolution.
Job Specific Duties
· Serve as the primary contact for clients and guests, assist clients with event issues, and facilitate excellent customer service. This includes answering calls to the Building Manager cell phone and meeting clients’ needs accordingly.
· Resolve event scheduling conflicts and address other unforeseen circumstances.
· While on shift, coordinate and manage the Event Setup Staff, Welcome Desk Ambassadors, and Bowling Attendant.
· Outside of business hours, utilize good judgement and independently make decisions. Serve as an extension of the professional staff and conduct self accordingly. Consult with professional staff after hours as appropriate.
· Prepare shift reports and distribute a final report to Nebraska East Union professional staff nightly.
· Supervise/perform/assist with event setups. Assist with Husker Bowling Center operations.
· Responsible for unlocking and locking the building and event spaces.
· Monitor facility operations including building utilization, maintenance and housekeeping needs, and event management through regular building rounds.
· Regulate and enforce building policy; ensure that clients and guests abide by the Nebraska East Union Policy.
· Maintain appropriate appearance and cleanliness of public/lounge spaces, meeting rooms, and event spaces. Coordinate with the Hospitality and Maintenance professionals as necessary to ensure stellar conditions before and after events and in common areas.
· Support Building Emergency Action Plan and assist with the execution of emergency procedures (such as building evacuation or medical emergencies).
· Follow-up in such situations with appropriate documentation of incidents and file reports with the appropriate professional staff.
· Use of Incident Report Form to communicate with full-time staff and UNLPD.
· Attend mandatory meetings, in-services, and training.
Preferred Qualifications
· University of Nebraska-Lincoln student with full-time enrollment status
· Customer service and leadership experience
· Current employee for the Nebraska Unions
· Willingness to work nights and weekends.

Hours Requirement: This position will have available hours evenings and weekends. Must meet 10-12 hour minimum per week and participate in a rotating weekend schedule.
