Encourage Students to Take the UNL Experience Survey

You already played a role in preparing your students for their experiences, now let’s learn what those were!  Sharing examples of career experiences your students have had is a powerful way to promote your programs to prospective students and the campus. Help collect those examples by encouraging your students to post their spring and summer 2021 experiences.  Career experiences will include internship/co-op, volunteer/shadowing, undergraduate research/fieldwork, practicum/student teaching, and clinical.

Last year Huskers reported experiences with The Cosmic Ray Observatory Project, Zoom Communications, Henry Doorly Zoo, Special Olympics, USDA, JP Morgan Chase, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, and so many more! Some of the roles Huskers held last year include Video Production Intern, Child Advocate, Software Developer, Pediatric Volunteer, Investments Intern, Veterinary Assistant, Event Coordinator, Mentor, and Legislative Page.

Increase submissions from your students by:

  • Assigning completion of it for credit or extra credit in courses you teach (see example here)
  • Sharing this description with students through newsletters, listservs, and/or Canvas”

Unique student data submitted through the Dashboard is kept confidential, only aggregate data may be released which allows departments to promote the career and experiential learning of their students. It also may affect UNL rankings and accreditation. Students can go directly to the Experiential Learning Dashboard via MyRed to report their career experiences.
