In Handshake Now: Leadership Program for First-Year Students Developed by Dining!

“This program is designed to help build future student leaders, as well as assist students who have Nebraska Promise and scholarships that cover tuition, to also have a way of paying for their housing and dining needs while on campus,” said Dave Annis, Director of Dining Services.

The Dining Student Leadership Program is a pilot program actively recruiting up to 35 first-year students who qualify for Federal Work-Study. Participants will not only gain valuable experience for other fields and professions, but will provide an essential service to the campus community.

In this program, students will  work 16 hours per week at a UNL dining site for the fall and spring semesters, earning pay in an amount that could  cover a traditional residence hall room. Additionally, they will receive a free meal plan. Students in this program will concurrently participate in the HuskerWork and Husker GROW programs in partnership with Career Services and Student Affairs.
