Welcome back First Gen Huskers!
Approximately one in four students at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is a First Generation student, being the first in their families to attend a four year institution. For many First Gen students simply attending the university is a huge success. The support for First Gen students is evident at Nebraska, and University Career Services is ready to connect First Gen students with more career development opportunities.

First Gen Campus Job Info Session
Tuesday, August 31 | 3-4:30pm | Ballroom, Nebraska Union
In partnership with First Gen Nebraska, OASIS, First Huskers, TRIO, WHT, and NCPA, University Career Services is coordinating the First Gen Campus Job Info Session for first generation students to learn how to find a campus job. The program will start with an overview of Handshake presented by UCS followed by an opportunity for campus departments to introduce themselves, and proceeding with informational tables where departments can connect with interested students and talk further about the opportunities they offer, and their hiring process. This will not be a recruiting event such as a job fair, but an opportunity for first gen students to learn how to find a job on campus in a low pressure, welcoming environment. Career Fair Preparation Workshop

In partnership with First Gen Nebraska, University Career Services is coordinating a Career Fair Preparation workshop to help First Gen students at the university prepare for the upcoming in-person and virtual career fairs. Learn how to develop your professional pitch and gain networking tips and strategies.
