First Gen Career Readiness Series in Full Swing

The First Gen Career Readiness Series began on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. During the first session of the First Gen series students learned about the concept of personal branding and how to identify their First Gen strengths through a guided activity. Students had the opportunity to apply the concept of branding as they reflected on their own personal brand to confidently communicate their story to potential employers.

Participants also heard from First-Gen Alumni Moises “Moi” Padilla, current Director of the Nebraska College Preparoty (NCPA) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, who shared his career journey and college experience. Moi shared how he utilized his First Gen strengths and personal brand to leverage and pursue his career aspirations. Moi told the students, “Your First Gen strengths should tell others what you want to be known for. Go out there and make it happen”. Moi encourages First Gent students at UNL to take part in the series to start discovering their own strengths, gain connections in and out of campus, and to make the most of their college experience.

If you are interested in being part of the series, it is not too late to sign-up! The series will continue throughout the rest of the Fall semester and on to Spring 2021. The second session will take place on Wednesday, October 7th at 3pm via Zoom.
